Conversation cards for dementia care

To design a set of customisable cards focusing on communication, creating conversation between family/friends and those living with dementia whilst encouraging memories.

Graphics are designed to be dementia friendly with bold typography and contrasting colours. The cards consist of 7 different categories to encourage conversations.

Research showed the importance of keeping the brain active throughout the progression of dementia. Through creating conversations and encouraging people with dementia to remember past experiences, positive affects can be seen. These include improved wellbeing and reduced loneliness. The cards can be used in various settings including care homes, family gatherings and dementia cafes where this product was tested. The Back in my Day website allows users to pick custom photos to display on the back of the question cards to further encourage people with dementia to remember specific events.
